A solarium, also known as a “conservatory,” is typically a stand-alone or attached structure that features a “modern” style of architecture and is generally enclosed by glass within a structural framework of wood, vinyl, or aluminum.

There are many types of solariums, including Victorian, Georgian, and Edwardian conservatories with various features outlined below. Please note this page is informational and we are not currently supplying solarium construction.

Victorian Conservatory

Evoking old-world charm and elegance and inspired by British designers, Victorian conservatories are the most distinctive glass structures. Georgian Conservatory

Georgian conservatories are also known as cathedral-style solariums. This unique design dates back to the eighteenth century. This architectural style is characterized by straight lines, large windows, and variable roof pitches. Georgian conservatories were originally used as orangeries to protect and shelter tropical plants. Modern technology allows us to design and build conservatories that are highly energy efficient. We attribute this efficiency to various factors, including the use of insulated, high-performance Low-E glass, thermally broken frames, and shading systems.

 Gable “Lean-To” Conservatory

A gable conservatory is like a straight-eave sunroom, with a Georgian-style cathedral-arch roof extension that can serve as a placement area for French doors or sliding doors. This style of solarium is a hybrid that serves as an excellent solution for a pool enclosure, outdoor gym, or game room.

 “P-Shape” Conservatory

A conservatory with a “P-Shape” is a unique architectural style combining the dramatic cathedral arches of a Georgian Conservatory with the roof extension look and feel of a Victorian Conservatory. This provides a stylish combination of Old-World look with modern, clean lines and vaulted ceilings.
